It is always cool to read about stuff like this. We sure have come a long way from the world being flat haven't we?

This is an excerpt from the article I read a moment ago.

"NASA released new data Wednesday from its Kepler telescope on more than 1,000 possible new planets outside our solar system — more than doubling the count of what astronomers call exoplanets. They haven't been confirmed as planets yet, but some astronomers estimate that 90 percent of what Kepler has found will eventually be verified."

They also said that there are planets that appear to be about the size of Earth and there is a good chance that there could be life out there. I look forward to hearing more about what is out there in the great beyond of outer space.

Ok the number I read today said they they have found 1,235 possible planets outside of our solar system and 54 of them could possibly be "Life Friendly". Scientists say that this doesn't mean that there IS life or that it is intelligent life but they want to look for things like mold or bacteria (if there isn't) or there could even be organisms that we have not yet discovered. This is a huge thing because 54 is a very large number of inhabitable planets to discover since at this point our planet is the only planet that we have known to have living beings inhabit it.

WASHINGTON – Scientists have estimated the first cosmic census of planets in our galaxy and the numbers are astronomical: at least 50 billion planets in the Milky Way.

At least 500 million of those planets are in the not-too-hot, not-too-cold zone where life could exist. The numbers were extrapolated from the early results of NASA's planet-hunting Kepler telescope.
